New Jersey Wildfire Aftermath Sunset
Blackened trees and ash littered the
ground for as far as the eye could see.
Raging wildfires hit Southern Jersey on May
15th, 2007. Ignited by a flare from an F-16
Fighter, and fueled by 30-40mph winds, low
humidity and temperatures in the mid-80's,
this fire grew to 20 square miles in one day.
As fast as mother nature spread this fire, she
put it out just as quickly. A much needed line
of thunderstorms dumped heavy rain over
the fire zone giving relief to the community
near Egg Harbor Township, NJ. As a few hot
spots gasped for their last breath, I took this
time lapse of the sun setting over the
aftermath of this wildfire.
